Random words I’ve scribbled in margins because I didn’t know the definition outside of context:

Bitumen: [n] Mineral pitch; a black, tarry substance, burning with a bright flame; Jew’s pitch. It occurs as an abundant natural product in many places, as on the shores of the Dead and Caspian Seas.

Pedagogy: [n] the activities of educating or instructing or teaching; activities that impart knowledge or skill;

Palimpsest: [n] a manuscript (usually written on papyrus or parchment) on which more than one text has been written with the earlier writing incompletely erased and still visible

Teleology: [n] a doctrine explaining phenomena by their ends or purposes // the doctine of final causes, esp. that natural and historic processes are determined not only by causality but also by their ultimate purposes, e.g: attainment of the kingdom of heaven.

and this one I saw when looking up the last one… the last part interested me… esp for my HIWTHI story…

Tele- Greek: far off, covering great distances
-pathy Greek: Pathos: suffering
