Another day in Lisbon before we meet our tour group. Mom made a list of things we need to see, so we went to find the Santa Justa elevator, which was built by a student of Eiffel. Used to be steam powered and connects the lower city with the upper one. So we went up to the top and enjoyed the view of the city.
Then we found trolley 28e to get up to the top of the city and see the castle. It was kind of an adventure, because I think the trolleys have been in use since 1755… it was a wild jerky ride up to the top.We took more pictures and then toodled down again. We bought some ice cream and made our way back to the hotel.
Update: This evening we met our tour group. Our guide, Miguel, took us to the welcome dinner at a tapas style restaurant in downtown Lisbon. So delicious… one of the dishes was this warm melty cheese served with – get this – raspberry jam. SO GOOD.
There are many Australians this time, but not a single Kiwi. A few Canadians and several Americans, which makes 52 tourists and a full tour bus.
