Always pack your bathing suit. Invariably, you will come across a situation where you will wish you had done so. I figure, better have it than wish you did (besides, it doesn’t take up much space.)
One pair of pants, one skirt for a two week trip is perfect, any more is pretty much a waste of space in your suitcase (especially if you only travel with a carry-on size like I do).
Wifi is free with your hotel stay, just remember to get a password from the concierge.
Don’t buy anything in the airport on the way TO your destination. It just clutters up your bag and takes up space you could otherwise fill with more exotic gifties.
If you see something you like early one in your souvenir shopping, get it. Don’t wait for something better to come along – nothing else will compare. (In Portugal I saw a tiny olive dish in Sintra that had a fish painted on it and I didn’t get it. I never did see another one that was as appealing.)
Don’t talk yourself out of a second pair of shoes – especially if you’re going to a hotter place than home. Spend the time and money to get yourself some comfortable and supportive runner and sandals.
When planning for all weather, layering works best so pack a cardigan and a light jacket you can use together if the need should arise, (and it probably will.)
